Ingredients

  • Rice cake
    • avocado
    • lemon pepper
  • Rice cake
    • peanut butter
    • banana

Instructions

  1. Take out a rice cake from the package
  2. Apply spread on top
    1. avocado or
    2. peanut butter
  3. Add toppings
    1. lemon pepper (optional)
    2. banana (optional: drizzle with honey)

National Read Across America Day (March 2nd)

Ingredients

  • bowl with water
  • green food coloring
  • egg
  • ham
  • fork, knife, plate

Instructions

  1. Mix a drop of food coloring in a small amount of water
  2. Add egg to  bowl, mix thoroughly with food coloring
  3. Slice ham into squares, or whatever shape you like
  4. Add ham into pan
  5. Let ham heat up a bit, then pour in green egg mixture
  6. Scramble or cook egg your liking (maybe make an omelet ?)
  7. Season with salt and pepper, or another garnish if you’re fancy
  8. Eat and enjoy, think about Dr. Seuss I guess

A sweet & salty + cinnamon ! snack

Ingredients

  • Popcorn
  • Cinnamon
  • Sugar (optional) (If you already have cinnamon sugar, that works too)
  • Bowl

Instructions

  1. Make popcorn
    1. out of a bag, or from kernels
  2. As soon as it’s done popping, when it is still hot! Add cinnamon or cinnamon sugar
    1. if kernels are plain, spray with butter or oil first and then sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar (helps coating)
  3. Thoroughly mix and season evenly, enjoy!

like the warm, sweet insides of an apple pie, but without the pie part

Ingredients

  • Apple(s)
  • Cinnamon
  • Optional: sugar, cinnamon sugar, whipped cream
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Microwaveable Bowl
  • Fork or spoon

Instructions

  1. Wash apple(s)
  2. Cut apple(s) into slices, cubes, chunks; dice it, chop it, julienne…
    • however you like!
    • Optional: peel the apple first
  3. Place the slices into the bowl, layer with cinnamon
    • or sprinkle with some cinnamon sugar
    • layer with your preferred combination of cinnamon and/or sugar
  4. Microwave bowl until apple pieces reach desired consistency
    • softer, crunchier, or mushier, you choose!
  5. Mix together, make sure the cinnamon/sugar is well distributed
  6. Top with whipped cream (if you want) and enjoy!

Pickles & Mustard

Ingredients

  • Spicy Brown Mustard (was used in this video)
    • choose your preferred mustard
  • Dill pickles
    • or not, if you have another type available
    • doesn’t necessarily have to be slices

Instructions

  1. Obtain a bottle or jar of mustard
  2. Find pickles
  3. Drizzle mustard onto pickles however you like
  4. Eat your flavor-packed creation!

Friendship Bracelet

Supplies

  • String (thicker than sewing thread, mine was 6-strand)
  • tape
  • scissors
  • measuring tape

Instructions

  1. Choose your string and colors
  2. Cut 3 or more strands to a length of approximately 15 inches
  3. Tie a knot at one end
  4. Tape that end to a table or surface
  5. Choose a starting color, and begin tying knots

  6. Tie a knot at the end, when it is long enough
  7. Enjoy yourself or share/gift with your friends!

Instructions

  1. Print or draw some bug outlines/silhouettes
  2. Cut them out
  3. Tape to the inside of a lamp
  4. Wait until an unsuspecting person turns on that lamp!

Valentine’s Day Pop-Up Card

Up your gift-giving game with a fun personalized letter!

Supplies

  • paper (colored construction paper was used in the video)
  • scissors
  • pencil/pen
  • tape and/or glue

Instructions

  1. Choose paper and fold in half
  2. Mark out slits to cut out (for the “pop” part)
  3. Cut and crease the pop-out sections
  4. Measure, trace, and cut out the symbols or letters you want
  5. Attach them to the pop outs
  6. Adhere the inner paper to the outer cover
  7. Crease where necessary and make sure it opens and closes well, without being folded incorrectly
  8. Decorate the outside cover of your card
  9. Write a message inside and send it off!

Paper Mache Pencil Holder

Make a Paper Mache Pencil Holder!

Using just a can and some junk mail...

Supplies

  • junk mail (like grocery ads or newspaper)
  • empty can
  • scissors
  • colored paper to decorate
  • flour
  • water
  • bowl
  • spoon

Instructions

  1. Obtain an empty can, make sure it is clean and take the label off
  2. Rip junk mail into strips of paper approximately one inch wide by four inches long
  3. Mix flour and water together until you reach a gluey consistency (see video)
  4. Dunk the paper into the mixture, squeeze off any excess and start wrapping around the can
  5. Complete a few layers of this, and let dry
  6. Cut the colored paper into whatever shape you want to follow for your final design
  7. Using the same method, coat the paper with the “glue” and cover the can with the paper strips
  8. Let dry. Fill the can with writing utensils of your choice!
