Practices for our Space
Here are few guidelines to keep us all safe and happy!
Equipment Use
- Training is required to operate: 3D Printers, Sewing/Embroidery Machines, Serger Machines, Digital Die Cutting Machine, and Soldering Iron.
- Always operate equipment safely and correctly. If you hear a strange noise coming from a machine, stop using it and alert a staff member!
- Headphones are not to be worn while operating equipment.
- Tools used in build IT must be returned by the user to their original location in a clean state. The workspace needs to be cleaned before the user leaves.
build IT Rights
- Individuals must listen and follow the directions of the staff.
- build IT is not responsible for any harm or injury incurred as a result of any usage of the equipment.
- build IT is not responsible for anything left in the space, including work saved on build IT computers may be deleted.
- Confidentiality of designs created in the space is not guaranteed.

- Don't merely respect each other; be excellent to each other. We are all here to make things and learn.
- When you break something, own up to it.
- Don't assume, ask.
- This is a shared space. Please leave yourself ample time to tidy the space after you have completed your project, and remove any trash or project scraps. Don’t leave them for the next person.

Master Builders
- Greet any non-master builders and let them know when opening hours are.
- Be present in the room at all times if you have any guests (non-master builders).
- Have the door propped while the room is occupied.
- Leave the space as I found it:
- Clean up messes
- Restore default white filament in printers
- Put equipment back
- Leave the lights on
- Lock all the computers
- Report broken items and if something runs out to Mariah or Jenny.
- Make sure doors are locked when the room is empty and the key is returned to the Hub Desk.
