3D Print Service
Need a 3D printed object?
build IT's online 3D print request service is available to SDSU students, staff, and faculty.
We offer this service to reduce the skills and time barrier needed to utlized a 3D printer. But we encourage frequent users to learn how to 3D print themselves through our offered trainings.
- Build Plate Size: Maximum dimensions are 256mm x 256mm x 256mm.
- Multi-Part Prints: Submit a separate request for each part of your project.
- Print Time Limit: Each request must fit within a 3-hour print limit per week. We recommend that you open your .stl in Bambu Studio, a free slicing software, to get an estimate for how much time your model will need to print
- If your combined requests exceed the 3-hour limit, additional prints will be processed the following week.
- Multiple Copies: For designs requiring multiple copies, we will print one test piece first to ensure sizing and quality is to your standards.
- Color: All prints use white filament only.
Turnaround time
- Files are printed in the order received.
- During busy periods, prints may take up to 2 weeks to complete.
Thoroughly read this page and agree to the Use and Copyright Policy. Be sure to notice the turnaround time and printing limitations.
Complete the Request Form where you will upload your .stl file.
You receive an email when your 3D part is ready and where to pick it up
At your earliest convience, visit build IT (Love Library 260) to pick up your 3D printed object. If you are unable to visit us, you can have someone else pick up the 3D printed object for you.
All 3D printed objects not picked up by the end-of-the-semester are recycled.
