Follow these tips to add some charm to your videos!

Supplies

  • Inanimate props
  • Moldable props like clay or dough
  • Adhesives to help keep props together like tape or fishing wire

Instructions

  1. Plan out your scene with props and movement
  2. Prop up a stationary camera that won’t move around.
  3. Use grids on camera to help guide movement
  4. Come up with movement for your props and incrementally move and take pictures.
  5. Come up with “cheats” or cuts to skip harder movement.

Supplies

  • Yarn
  • Crochet Hook
  • Yarn Needle

Accordion Paper Decoration

Accordion Paper Decoration

Add a splash of color and texture to your walls!

Supplies

  • Paper
  • Scissors
  • Tape

Instructions

  1. Accordion fold a piece of paper on the short side into half inch pleats
  2. Cut the piece of paper in half on the short side so you can tape together the pleats into one long strip.
  3. Make sure the pleats line up, trim if necessary
  4. Tape together pairs on one side of the pleats to gather the pleats into a fan shape.
  5. Repeat, taping together taped pairs to hold the shape.
  6. If the paper is curling towards one side, flip the fan over and tape together pairs of pleats on the other side to balance out the fan.
  7. Optionally, tape the bottom together to hold the fan more open or closed.

Supplies

  • Paper

Instructions

  1. Make a square piece of paper
  2. Fold the paper into 8ths (folding in half lengthways, vertically and diagonally)
  3. Fold in all four corners to the center to make a smaller square
  4. Fold this smaller square into thirds on both axis to create lines that separate the square into 9 tiny squares.
  5. Open up one of the corners of the smaller square, then fold in the left and right tiny squares in the top row until it brings in one of the walls of the boxes. There will be a little triangle sticking up. Tuck that in.
  6. Repeat on the other side.

Valentine’s Day Pop-Up Card

Up your gift-giving game with a fun personalized letter!

Supplies

  • paper (colored construction paper was used in the video)
  • scissors
  • pencil/pen
  • tape and/or glue

Instructions

  1. Choose paper and fold in half
  2. Mark out slits to cut out (for the “pop” part)
  3. Cut and crease the pop-out sections
  4. Measure, trace, and cut out the symbols or letters you want
  5. Attach them to the pop outs
  6. Adhere the inner paper to the outer cover
  7. Crease where necessary and make sure it opens and closes well, without being folded incorrectly
  8. Decorate the outside cover of your card
  9. Write a message inside and send it off!

Supplies

  • Long candles
  • Hot water

Instructions

  1. Soak candles in hot but not boiling water for 10 minutes or until pliable
  2. Slowly mold candles, adding more hot water as needed to keep candles soft.
  3. Make sure the candle can be balanced on a surface.

  • Adhesives (tape, push pins, putt)
  • Decoration (magazine cutouts, stickers, drawings, ornaments, written goals)

Instructions

Macrame Keychain

Make a neat decoration for your keychain

Supplies

  • Yarn or string
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Keychain

Instructions

  1. Cut three two-feet strings
  2. Fold each one in half
  3. To create a knot insert the close end of the string into the keychain
  4. Loop the two loose ends through the hole made by the other end
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the other two
  6. Tape down the keychain
  7. Going from left to right, grab the third string and throw it over the second string
  8. Grab the end of the second string and loop it into the hole created by the third string
  9. Repeat the loop for the second string
  10. Toss the third string over the first string
  11. Repeat steps 8 and 9 for the third string
  12. Grab the fourth string and toss it over the fifth string
  13. loop the fifth string into the hole made by the fourth string
  14. Repeat the loop for the fifth string
  15. Toss the fourth string over the sixth string
  16. Repeat steps 13 and 14 for the sixth string
  17. Grab the third and fourth string
  18. Toss the third string over the fourth string
  19. Loop the end of the bottom string through the hole
  20. Repeat steps 18 and 19
  21. Repeat steps 7-21 until satisfied
  22. Separate the ends into three groups
  23. to create a knot, grab the ends of one group and create a hole
  24. Loop the two ends through the hole
  25. Repeat steps 23 and 24

Yarn Pom Poms

Yarn Pom Poms

Add some festive flair with yarn pom poms!

Supplies

  • Yarn
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Hold on to one end of yarn between your fingers
  2. Wrap yarn around your 4 fingers 200x or depending on how full you want your pom pom to be.
  3. Cut off the other end of the yarn and use the 2 ends to tie a knot around the center of the yarn loop. If you slide it off your hand, make sure to hold onto the shape of the yarn.
  4. Tie the ends together tight, then trip the loops with scissors, taking care not to cut the center loop
  5. Trim into sphere shape.
